Charade

It had started differently but ended as this. You have seen The Matrix. I don't suffer from such manic proportions in delusions, but well a small helping never hurts. What if the whole concept of governance is just a facade? (PS: I love The Matrix) (PS2: And I do have a tune for this too.)

Narration

You have all assembled here, because society has no further use for you. We welcome you, not in friendship, or solidarity. We welcome you in pain and guilt. We stand here on this bleak cold and rainy day, not to accuse or exchange blame, for that is done and over with. We are here to put an end to this.

Start

Sitting under the neon lights
Making rules and having fights
Trembling hands under gray chins
Grave expressions and coat pins

Standing across the yard today
Waiting on the other side today
Seconds drop by and minutes too
God help us what can we do

Chorus:
For we are the charade mongers
We were the leaders, but no longer
We were built to lead, now there's no need
Done and through with this life and we will be freed

hmm
The people in the world are meek
And all they need is a shepherd
Just a role model to look up to
No leader, just an icon for the herd

So they are the perfect marketeers
Machining icons for your consumption
To go through the leadership charade
For all of it just no more than a facade

Chorus:
For we are the charade mongers
We used to lead, but no longer
Done with the stint, for us there's no need
Done and through with this life and we will be freed

They took us for the postures
Splashed across all those posters
We talked to you, and listened to you
We made you think you made a difference

But nothing really meant a damn at all
Behind us the wolves had a great ball
Coz we were just the dirty hands
Nothing to do with any of those promised lands

Chorus:
For we are the charade mongers
We were the leaders, but no longer
We were built to lead, now there's no need
Done and through with this life and we will be freed
